Storyboard and voice talent
Like a hand-drawn comic version of a movie, the storyboard is the blueprint for the movie's action and dialogue.
The director and storyboard artist lay out their vision of the movie, drawing it shot by shot, and then present it to the client.
Professional voice actors record the characters voices in several takes, with different attitudes and intonations, and the best reading is selected for animation.
Design, look & feel
Based on the storyboard, the Art department designs the characters, sets, props and the general look & feel of the movie.
Color themes, textures and lighting are all designed in accordance with the movie's theme.
Modeling
Using the Art department's detailed 3D view sketches, characters are then modeled and given bones and hinges, which enable us to animate them later.
At this stage, the environment is modeled based on detailed blueprints and floor plans.
Animatics
Creating the structure of the entire movie, by laying out the actual shots and selecting camera angles and shot lengths.
Once the scene has been cut, the final version is released to the Animation department.
One cannot underestimate the importance of precise animatics, since it is the foundation of the entire animation process.
Animation
Once the animatics have been approved, our animators create the choreography of the movements and the expressions of each character in each scene.
Using special animation controls, the animators define key poses and adjust the “in-between” frames, nuances and secondary animation.
Shading, Lighting & Rendering
The shading process is about giving elements in the scene actual material qualities, in other words, making the object appear physical.
Key, fill, bounce lights and ambience are all defined and used to enhance the mood and emotions of each scene.
Rendering is the act of translating all of the information in the scene into a single frame of film. Each frame represents 1/25 of a second of screen time and takes from several minutes to an hour to render. |
